Patient Transport Aide is responsible for performing physical transportation and movement of patients to and from various units, rooms and Imaging modalities.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Patient Transport Aide at Hackensack Meridian includes:

  • Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Transports patients around the facility to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner.
  • Lifts patients in and out of bed/chairs, move them to and from treatment areas and procedure rooms.
  • Offers comfort and support to patients and their families.
  • Transports medical equipment and supplies to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.
  • Respects and protects patient confidentiality and hospital confidentiality by keeping all sensitive and patient information private.
  • Follows all protocols and procedures to ensure safe delivery of patients, their possessions and supplies
  • Maintains a secure, clean and healthy work environment by adhering to the standards and regulations that are set forth by the hospital and local, state and federal governments. Routinely complies with the standards set forth by the Joint Commission and HIPAA.
  • Regularly participates in ongoing education to improve knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) strongly preferred
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Heavy pulling, pushing and lifting are required (50lbs or more). 
  • Good communication and Customer Service skills required
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, alternating weekends and holidays
  • Maintains CPR certification.
