The Director of Nursing/Nurse Manager is responsible for the delivery of clinical services while managing both clinical and support staff. This position is responsible and accountable for ensuring that daily operations achieve best practices and organizational objectives. This position reports to the Administrator of the Transitional Care Unit.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Director of Nursing at Meridian includes:

 

  • Performing financial analysis at the unit/department level with consideration for case mix, acuity work load, volume, variable staffing plans, personnel and fixed/variable unit costs
  • Reviewing and acting on variance analysis reports including nursing hours per patient day, cost per unit of service, FTEs and other variables
  • Implementing, monitoring and evaluating action plans aimed to correct variances for each pay period
  • Preparing and submitting monthly variance and justification reports to the Administrator
  • Maintaining clinical expertise/credentials while seeking to build upon strengths and grow in areas for improvement
  • Consistently developing, implementing and supporting activities and/or projects that promote resident satisfaction within a resident center care framework to achieve best practice targets
  • Collaborating and providing guidance and direction to team members on a consistent basis to ensure quality standards are being met
  • Consistently managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines and expectations in quality and regulatory project management
  • Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of standards of nursing care ensuring compliance with regulations from the DOH, JCAHO, Board of Nursing and Magnet Credentialing
  • Ensuring and being accountable for the provision of competent care to residents and families and assuring that nursing care is delivered and documented through the nursing process

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required
  • BSN is preferred
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a Director of Nursing/Nurse Manager in long-term care is required
  • CPR/BLS Certification by the American Heart Association is required
  • Certification(s) in Gerontology, Administration, etc. are a plus
